Brantome Villa Luxury Boutique Accommodation Hosts
If you pinch Roger and Valerie they might just wake up from a dream that has taken them from the southeast of England to the south of France and across the other side of the world to a one and a half acre haven on the outskirts of Whangarei in New Zealand.
The dream began over four years ago when they bought an old farmhouse in the south of France with the intention of turning the barn into two self contained units. While waiting for the paperwork to be completed they came to New Zealand for a holiday and, like so many before them, fell in love with the country and decided this was where they really wanted to be.
"Our dreams came true and we moved here in September 2005, we just love it!" says Valerie.
Today Brantome Villa, named after the town in France where they bought the farmhouse, is a proud testament to the love and care the couple have put into creating their dream.
Sitting proudly overlooking park-like gardens and a picturesque lake, the luxury b&b villa has been completely refurbished by its new owners in an upmarket contemporary style, with its two luxury guest rooms offering visitors the ultimate in privacy and comfort in a peaceful setting where no one needs to know they are there.
"We have people flying in by helicopter and that shows how private they want to be," says Roger.
The Bloomfields love the freedom of working and supporting themselves from home while also meeting "fantastic people from all over the world".
"We had one couple book in for four nights and then stayed for 21," Roger laughs, adding that many of the guests who stay at Brantome Villa remain as friends.
"We do have to pinch ourselves because we live in such a wonderful place. We are really lucky," says Valerie.
